After long thinking I decided to write a post about my most loved city called Lisbon. The first time I went to Lisbon I decided to buy a guide book to get some ideas where to go to. The first time was a business trip, so work during the day and discovering the city in the evening. So I tried the small bars and restaurants in Bairro Alto, did some walks around in the Baixa and enjoying amazing sunsets at the river Tejo. My hint and tips for you if you plan to visit the city:
- don’t miss to have Pasteis de Nata and a Galão in one of the amazing Confeitarias. The perfect treat after discovering the city.
- don’t miss to try the Pasteis de Belem. It sound like the most touristic place in Lisbon, but the Pasteis de Belem are simply amazing.
- don’t miss to try one of the bars or restaurant in Bairro Alto.
- don’t miss to try Bacalhau. Best you ask the locals where to eat it.
- don’t miss to try Ginja in a chocolate cup. You will never eat Mon Chéri again as this is the much better combination.
- don’t miss to take a tour with the number 28 tram. It takes you through the whole city. Just take care of you belongings.
- don’t miss to walk around the small streets and use the cable cars, which easily gets you up- or downhill.
- don’t miss to get a new haircut at WIP Hairport. The best place for your hair and yourself.
- don’t miss to have some roasted chestnuts in wintertime.
- don’t miss to discover the amazing streetart in Lisbon.
- don’t miss to simply have fun 🙂

Last time I was there I decided to have an amazing dinner at Belcanto. The Belcanto is the restaurant run by José Avillez. So one evening I went there. There is a nice bench outside the door, where I took place as I didn’t see the bell next to the door. I was wondering when the door would open. It wouldn’t ever open if you don’t ring the bell. Luckily I realized that soon. So a lovely waitress opened the door and I could get in. First they take you to have a look into the kitchen. There you see all the chefs doing their great work. After this I was taken to my place.
I got for every course a glase of wine, which was perfect with it. The bread you got offered from the bread sommelier was simply amazing. I wished that they would tell me their recipe for the Broa de milho.
So the 1st course was Olive3:
– black tempura olive
– El Bulli 2005 olive
– Invented dry Martini
The 2nd course: entres Aspes: – Ferrero Rocher
– Grilled Chicken
– Seafod Rice
3 different kind of butters to go with the bread:
3rd course: Shrimps with letuce and walnut emulsion
followed by the 3 main courses:
Clotted buffalo milk with vegetables
I was in heaven, but there was still a dessert to come.
I finished the amazing dinner with an espresso and some amazing sweets.
Many thanks to José Avillez and his great team for the wonderful evening!
